LRC Group’s Landscape Architecture studio has partnered with the Dutchess County Agricultural Society (DCAS) over a number of yers to modernize the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, one of New York State’s largest and most celebrated fairs. The facility – already a year-round event destination – needed an improved visitor arrival experience, better pedestrian flow, and a cohesive theme.
A key result of this effort was the creation of a new Welcome Center at the main entrance, serving as both a functional hub for ticketing and security and a prominent landmark visible from all arrival points. Designed as a flexible event space, the Welcome Center extends the fairgrounds’ use beyond fair week.
LRC’s design optimized pedestrian circulation, integrated security and ticketing, and ensured a lasting, engaging first impression. Completed in 2018, the Welcome Center marked a significant step in the revitalization of the Fairgrounds. We worked closely with the DCAS team, creating site plans, 3D models, and photo-simulations to visualize the design, and provided architectural guidelines for a local architect. The project was completed in time for the 2017 summer fair.
